The Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndromes (SADS) Foundation was established in 1991 by G. Michael Vincent, M.D. and several dedicated co-founders. Their mission is to save the lives of children and young adults who are genetically predisposed or otherwise susceptible to sudden death due to cardiac arrhythmias. They provide education and support to families and members of the medical community. Detailed information on a wide range of cardiovascular diseases associated with sudden death, including long qt syndrome, is available on their websites.

The Mayo Long QT Clinic

The Mayo Long QT Clinic, located in Rochester, Minnesota, specializes in caring for individuals with Long QT Syndrome. Headed by Dr. Michael Ackerman, it is one of the most well known Long QT clinics in the world. Aside from treating patients, Mayo's Long QT Clinic also conducts research on the genetic mechanisms underlying Long QT. The clinic's website has an excellent information section dealing with some of the specifics of Long QT.

Cardiac Arrhythmias Research and Education

The Cardiac Arrhythmias Research and Education (CARE) Foundation was founded in 1995 by a group of electrophysiologists and individuals touched by the trauma of sudden cardiac death. Today their mission is to provide funding for medical research and increase medical and public awareness of the unexpected death of children and young adults due to inherited heart rhythm disorders.

QTDrugs.org is devoted to education and research on drug-induced arrhythmias, especially those due to prolongation of the QT interval on the electrocardiogram (ECG). An up-to-date list of drugs suspected in elongating the QT interval is available on their website. The drugs on their "QT Drugs List" are generally not recommended for usage by people who have or are suspected of having long QT syndrome.

National Center for Early Defibrillation

The National Center for Early Defibrillation is a non-profit resource center based at the University of Pittsburgh. Their mission is to promote the immediate use of defibrillation for victims of sudden cardiac arrest by educating the public about the importance of early defibrillation. Their website includes detailed information about the significance of early defibrillation and how defibrillators work to save the lives of people who experience cardiac arrest. It also gives contact information for several national organizations that offer AED training classes.
